Our first trip to Japan together since the shop opened
Our trip to Japan was like a journey through several worlds at once: from the glowing neon streets of Tokyo to the tranquil temples of Kyoto, from the crowded party districts of Osaka to almost deserted beaches in Kamakura. Every city had its own unique magic.
In Tokyo, we dove right into the vibrant heart of Japan – amidst huge shopping malls, endless arcades, and of course, the legendary Pokémon Café. Whether it's anime, fashion, or technology: the city feels like a glimpse into the future, and yet it's also full of small hidden alleys and traditional shrines.
Kyoto, by contrast, was the perfect antidote. Amidst ancient temples, red torii gates, and the famous Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, time suddenly seemed to slow down.
Especially in the early morning, an incredible tranquility settled over the city, making every walk magical.
For Pepe, a real dream came true here: a visit to the Nintendo Museum – an absolute highlight full of nostalgia and gaming history.
For us, Osaka always feels a bit like "coming home." The city has its own unique energy – more open, louder, more humorous, and somehow directly heartfelt. For me, it has long become more than just a travel destination: more like a second home.
Osaka was a perfect blend of tradition and modernity for us. Besides the serene and beautiful Osaka Castle and the fantastic street food, Super Nintendo World was an absolute highlight. It felt like we had made a small detour into the games, haha.
In Nara, we were greeted by the famous bowing deer that roam freely through the parks. There was an almost magical atmosphere between the animals and the impressive temple complexes.
However, we not only enjoyed the impressive nature, but also made an important acquaintance with our current partner. This encounter led to a close collaboration, through which we are now regularly supplied with new goods and great new items.
And then there was Kamakura – with beautiful beaches, the sound of the ocean, and a relaxed atmosphere that felt completely different from the bustling city life. The perfect place to just pause the trip for a moment and enjoy the present.
Japan showed us how diverse a single country can be – futuristic and traditional, loud and quiet, full of people yet with places where you feel completely alone.
